Water softening is the process of removing hardness of water. Hard water is usually can be identified by the way your shampoos and soaps do not dissolve in it. This is because of the calcium and magnesium content. Water highly concentrated with calcium and magnesium can cause your pipes to clog and the inability to wash your cloth, hair properly. It also, clogged the pipes & decrease efficiency of your hot water heater, washing machine & any appliance water is sent through.
A water softener has a resin tank containing resin beads that hold electrically charged ions. As hard water passes through the water softener system, the calcium and magnesium ions are attracted to the resin beads, sodium ions are exchanged for the hard water ions calcium and magnesium. The softener system then delivers soft water for your use.
